Wonderful experience. So much to see and do here. The centre itself doesn’t have much on display, it’s more about reading and listening to the audio guide. I loved it although the $25 entry fee is a little pricey and if you have a large family this could just be too expensive for a visit.
Visited the Anzac centre and it’s surrounding buildings, displays and lookout. A short walk uphill to the lookout was worth it. Then coming down the hill were bunkers and gunneries that kids would love to explore. The Anzac centre was exceptional! Each participant gets a card with a soldier or digger on it. The card is interactive throughout the centre yo learn about your particular digger. Fantastic connection to the past. You also get an audio device that you can swipe to hear more. Well worth the visit !
My husband refused to buy the tickets and stated it is to expensive. I would of paid for it. So we missed out on the discovery centre, what shame my family are listed there and my aboriginal grandmother has her letter etched in time that she wrote about what to put for my grandfather after she found out he was not coming home as he was missing in action. It was still a lovely day out and we did the trail and see the homes and brought some beautiful souvenirs. This place is a must.
The research and information supplied here is absolutely outstanding. The interactive displays are wonderful and I just wish that every single Australian and Kiwi child could have the opportunity to visit this Centre. We were just enthralled during our time spent here. Thank you for all the hard work put into this memorial.
To be honest there wasn’t a lot to see that we hadn’t seen and read about before, there isn’t a lot of items on display most of the centre is about reading and listening to audio and swiping through photos, entry fee is $25 per person which is grossly overpriced as we battled to spend an hour here, it is well setup so 3 stars for that and 0 stars for price
We have decided that Albany does an excellent museum and this is a fantastic example. There are stories about individual soldiers and events, it is interactive and you can use a card you are given on entry to follow up on the person on the card and there are also devices you can use to get extra information around the centre on various incidents. The museum covers the war from each countries experiences which we both valued and it covers the first and second world wars. This museum is highly recommended.
Outside there is a trail to walk on to see an old bunker. Trail is a lovely walk. There are old missiles and guns to climb on outside as well. And an amazing view. It is paid entry to the museum but well worth it! Fascinating and informative. Lots of interaction and you receive a card to follow a soldiers journey which makes it more personal. Staff are very helpful. Probably suitable for kids around 8 and over.
Amazing. Can’t recommend to go enough. They give you a card of a solider so you can feel apart if the journey and there are interactive stations that you can view your soldiers file on. You can also search for soldiers in an interactive table.
