Alpe Cimbra, one of the most beloved ski resorts in Carinthia, is set to welcome visitors with exciting upgrades for the 2025/2026 winter season. Among the most anticipated additions are the Francolini–Sommo Alto gondola and a newly designed Francolini slope, which will elevate the ski experience for both seasoned skiers and families. Located in the scenic Folgaria and Lavarone areas, Alpe Cimbra continues to blend adventure, relaxation, and sustainability for an unforgettable winter getaway.

One of the biggest highlights of the 2025 ski season is the Leitner gondola lift, which replaces the old Aineck 3-seater chairlift. This 10-person gondola offers a smoother, faster ride, taking passengers from Francolini at 1,178 meters to Sommo Alto at 1,620 meters in just 8 minutes. The gondola features modern cabins with ample space, ski racks, and safety features, making it easier and more comfortable for skiers and snowboarders to get to the top of the mountain.

Guests can enjoy a scenic ride with breathtaking views of the Alps while traveling up, making the journey as enjoyable as the destination itself. The new gondola also enhances the ski resort’s efficiency, reducing wait times and increasing transport capacity during peak times, ensuring a smoother experience for everyone.

The new 3.2-kilometer Francolini slope adds a unique touch to Alpe Cimbra’s ski offerings. Winding through the tranquil forest, this slope is perfect for skiers of all levels, from beginners to experienced enthusiasts. The slope is equipped with the TechnoAlpin snowmaking system, which ensures consistent snow cover, providing excellent conditions even during variable weather.

This newly designed slope allows visitors to connect with nature, as they ski through snow-covered trees and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The blend of forest views and smooth skiing makes this a special addition to the resort’s offerings, appealing to guests looking for a more relaxed and scenic skiing experience.

Alpe Cimbra is increasingly becoming a popular destination for families and non-skiers. The resort has introduced various programs designed to cater to guests of all ages, with a particular focus on encouraging young skiers. The Carinthian Ski Pass has already seen a great response, with over 30,000 season passes sold by early December.

A standout initiative is the skiing for schools program, which offers free lift passes and skiing opportunities for primary school children between January 12-16, 2026. In addition, the resort offers discounted 3-day ski packages for just €21, helping to make skiing more accessible for families. These programs provide young people with a chance to experience the joys of skiing while offering a more affordable option for families on holiday.

Alpe Cimbra goes beyond traditional skiing with unique winter activities, including Uphill Tobogganing (BergAufRodeln) at Simonhöhe. This exhilarating activity involves toboggans with special hitches, which are pulled uphill by a lift, offering a fun and unique way to enjoy the snow. The resort also offers night tobogganing for those seeking an adventurous twist to their winter experience.

Sustainability is a priority for Alpe Cimbra. The resort continues to focus on eco-friendly practices, such as using energy-efficient gondolas and low-emission snowmaking systems. The commitment to preserving the natural environment ensures that visitors can enjoy the stunning alpine beauty of the region without compromising its future. Guests are encouraged to support green initiatives by reducing plastic waste and participating in eco-friendly activities throughout their stay.

Alpe Cimbra’s ski resorts have long been a beloved destination for both tourists and locals, offering 100 km of well-groomed slopes, diverse activities for all skill levels, and a family-friendly atmosphere. The addition of the new gondola and Francolini slope enhances the resort’s offerings, providing more options for relaxation, adventure, and nature immersion.

Alpe Cimbra’s 2025/2026 winter season promises to be a memorable one, with exciting new lifts, diverse slopes, and a variety of family-friendly activities. Whether you’re a seasoned skier, a family on their first ski trip, or simply someone looking to enjoy a peaceful escape in the Alps, Alpe Cimbra offers the perfect winter destination. With its commitment to sustainability, modern ski infrastructure, and unique experiences like uphill tobogganing, Carinthia’s ski resorts continue to shine as a premier destination for winter sports enthusiasts of all ages.
